19-year-old woman struck, killed by vehicle in west Columbus

COLUMBUS, Ohio — A 19-year-old woman has died after being hit by a vehicle Saturday night, according to Columbus police.

It happened near West Mound Street and Mount Calvary Avenue shortly before 10 p.m.

Columbus police say Angela Michael exited a COTA bus at that intersection and began to cross West Mound Street outside of a crosswalk when a Toyota Corolla traveling eastbound on the road struck her.

Michael was taken to Grant Medical Center and was pronounced dead at 10:28 p.m. Police say she was pregnant and the unborn baby had also died.

The crash remains under investigation.
