14-year-old charged with making threats against Circleville City Schools

CIRCLEVILLE, Ohio – A 14-year-old was arrested and charged with a felony after Circleville police said a threat was made against Circleville City Schools.

Police said they learned of the threat at 3:30 p.m. Thursday but did not disclose any other information about the threat.

Police arrested the 14-year-old, who is in custody at the juvenile detention facility until an initial appearance in Pickaway County Juvenile Court.

The teenager is facing a second-degree felony charge of inducing panic.

Even though there was an arrest, police said there will be an increased presence of officers at the schools on Friday to make sure children are safe.

In a statement police said:

The Circleville Police Department takes all threats to public safety very seriously. Even with the arrest you will see an increased officer presence at the schools tomorrow dedicated to keeping our children safe and we are working closely with other agencies in this effort. We encourage anyone who comes across any type of threat to immediately contact the Circleville Police Department.
