10TV Sports Team Checks In From L.A.

First, an apology...it's been a while since I've posted anything, so my many loyal readers...okay, reader (Hi Uncle Al) have been waiting with baited web browsers.

Just returned from Ohio State's practice (at least the part of it open to the media), at the Home Depot Center. Soccer fans no doubt recognize the venue, as the Columbus Crew captured the 2008 MLS Cup there, and it's also the home of the Los Angeles Galaxy, Chivas USA, and the U.S. Soccer programs.

The Buckeyes did not actually practice in the Home Depot Center, but on two of the many practice fields located in the complex, which is extremely impressive. The weather was slightly overcast, with temperatures in the upper 50's.

Ohio State hit the field around 3pm ET, and we got to observe them stretch and take part in some warm-up drills. One of the special team drills was not done to an assistant coach's satisfaction, causing him to yell "come on!"

Beau Bishop talked to linebacker Tyler Moeller, who sat out this season following a head injury suffered in Florida this summer. Tyler said that he was able to run a couple of miles today, and even though he was just in shorts and a t-shirt, he was doing some resistance exercises with one of the trainers.

Other than that, it was hard to get any kind of read on the team, since we didn't get to watch anything significant, practice-wise.

Oregon's practice was originally scheduled to be open this morning, but that was changed. Perhaps the Ducks are getting a little tight? Who knows?

Tonight, the Buckeyes are having dinner at Lawry's Steak House in The Beverly (as in Beverly Hills...don't know if the "locals" call it that, but I thought it sounded cool...better than the 90210, at least). It's a long-standing tradition known as the "Beef Bowl". Oregon eats there tomorrow night, and whichever team consumes the most beef (by the pound) is declared the winner.

We'll be doing Wall to Wall Sports tonight live by the pool at hour hotel...but it's not as glamorous as it sounds. It will only be in the 40's, and a shirtless Joe Namath won't be offering any bold predictions. Still Dom Tiberi, Beau, Tim May and Ken Gordon of the Dispatch will break things down.
