The 2017 season has been full of ups and downs: Come from behind wins, heartbreaking losses and a conference championship.

The rollercoaster will come to a stop Friday night as the No. 5 Ohio State Buckeyes take on the No. 8 USC Trojans.

While this is the prototypical Rose Bowl matchup, this one is going to be played in Texas at AT&T Stadium, home of the Dallas Cowboys.

So without delay, let's get to it. Here are the 10 Things To Know:

1. Professional Bowlers

Ohio State is playing in its 48th bowl game.

2. Back By Popular Demand

Ohio State is playing in its second Cotton Bowl. They defeated Texas A&M in the 1987 game, 28-12.

3. A Close Series

Ohio State and USC have met 23 times previously with USC holding a 13-9-1 lead in the series.

4. No Rose For You

The two teams have met in seven bowl games, all Rose Bowls. That is, until Friday.

5. Unlucky Seven

The Trojans have won seven straight over the Buckeyes (Ohio State last won in the 1974 Rose Bowl).

6. Offensive Onslaught

The Cotton Bowl will feature two of the nation’s top offenses: Ohio State ranks No. 6 and USC ranks No. 15.

7. Full Season Balancing Act

Ohio State’s offense is the only team in the country to both pass and rush for over 3,000 yards this year.

8. Backing Them Up

The Buckeyes are No. 6 in the nation with 100 tackles for loss and has held nine of its 13 opponents to less than 300 yards of total offense.

9. (Nearly) Home Sweet Home

Quarterback J.T. Barrett will be playing his final game as a Buckeye roughly two hours from his hometown of Wichita Falls, Texas.

10. Best Of The Best

Barrett’s last game will be against another of the top quarterbacks in Sam Darnold. Barrett has thrown for 2,728 with 33 touchdowns and Darnold has 3,787 yards through the air with 26 touchdowns.
