1 killed, 2 injured after being struck by a vehicle in Perry County

PERRY COUNTY, Ohio — The Lancaster Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal crash involving three pedestrians.

It happened just after 7 a.m. Friday on County Road 30 in Perry County.

A man was driving north on County Road 30 in a Chevrolet Silverado. One of the three pedestrians, Shane Barber, 43 of McArthur, was standing outside of his work vehicle when he and the others were hit by the Silverado.

Troopers say the driver of the Chevrolet Silverado failed to maintain assured clear distance.

One pedestrian was flown to Grant Medical Center and another was flown to the Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center with serious injuries.

The driver of the Silverado was taken by Thorn Township Fire Department to Genesis Hospital in Somerset with non-life-threatening injuries.

Barber was flown by Air Evacuation to Grant Medical Center where he later died from his injuries.

Alcohol is not suspected to be a factor in the crash.
