1 injured in police-involved shooting north of downtown Columbus


COLUMBUS - Columbus police says one person is injured after an officer-involved shooting that happened early Sunday morning north of downtown Columbus.

The shooting occurred at a Private Club located at the intersection of East 5th and St. Clair Avenues around 5:25 a.m., according to an officer on the scene.

Officials told 10TV two officers were involved in the shooting and they were both not injured in the incident.

According to a release, police do not believe the person who was injured is the person for which the 911 call originated.

Police say the man who was shot failed to drop his gun after repeated commands.

The suspect was taken to Grant Medical Center in critical but stable condition.
