1 injured, 4 dogs saved from burning building by Newark firefighters

NEWARK, Ohio-- Four dogs are now safe after being saved from a burning building in Newark.

It happened on Tuesday on the 400 block of North Cedar Street.

One person in the building was taken to Licking Memorial Hospital for smoke inhalation. Newark firefighters managed to save the four dogs in the building but two cats died in the fire.

Authorities say the fire started in the back of the building and extended into the first and second floors.

The fire remains under investigation.
