Ways to Save Money on Holiday Shopping

Nobody wants to appear cheap when shopping for the holidays. But gift givers don't want to go broke either.

For shoppers pinching every penny and watching every dollar, there are ways to make everybody happy.

Before draining your wallet this season of giving, experts say consider where you shop. For example, instead of wrestling the crowds in the stores, one suggestion is to cruise deal web sites like Ben's Bargains, or My Bargain Buddy.

Another suggestion is don't discount potential hidden gems that could lie waiting at rummage sales.

Check out credit card company rewards, too. Sometimes, spending with one all year could pay off with a nice gift or two.

For shoppers who still have gifts from last year that haven't been returned, selling them on eBay or Craig's List might be an option to make a little extra holiday spending money. When all else fails, Santa won't think you're naughty for regifting. Just do it very carefully.

Also, see if your company or your college offers discounts on movies, theme parks and any other activities or attractions. Buyers are not supposed to sell  them, but it is usually ok to give them as gifts. Just don't forget to check policies and make sure the items are transferrable.
