"It's very real. Sick building syndrome is a fact of life," said Bill Treasure. "If you've got high condensation on your windows in the winter time, you've got a water problem somewhere and you need to explore it."
Treasure tests indoor air quality and visually inspects houses and buildings from top to bottom.
Surprisingly, he finds the most mold in newer homes, reported ONN's Harrison Hove.
"The moldiest houses are probably less than 10 to 15 years old. We find most mold in newer homes," he said.
Treasure also said other, seemingly harmless, things inside your home could make you ill.
"When they make new carpet there is chemicals involved. These chemicals can come out of the carpet and into the air," said Treasure.
It's a process called out gassing, which can last for months.
Treasure's simplest tip to improve your indoor air quality comes from some old advice.
"Open the windows. Grandma used to say every now and then to open the windows and let the stink blow out. There's a lot to that," Treasure said.
