"All of our exhibits this year focus on the 1960s in Sidney," said Historical Center Curator Laura Van Fossen.
The William A. Ross, Jr. Historical Center is decked out with fashion, fads, and memorabilia from five decades ago.
"Women's hats, gloves, dresses, the fashion of the 60s are all included. Another room focuses on the pop culture icons of the 60s," said Van Fossen.
The exhibit this spring shows happier times for a booming Sidney. There are old pictures from yearbooks, newspaper clippings, and plenty of high school mementos.
"We have old cheerleading coats, basketball memorabilia, football memorabilia," said Van Fossen.
Admission is free and it's the perfect place to bring the whole family. You can enjoy the ride through time together.
"We've had several visitors come in and say 'oh I forgot that was downtown' or 'I had one exactly like that in my house,' so it's a great piece for people to come in and remember things from their past and then share that with their family members," said Van Fossen.
A picture of Sidney is painted for young and old.
"It really gives people a glimpse into the past to see what was important back then, how things have changed, and what hasn't changed all that much," said Van Fossen.
As the 60's wore on, Sidney changed and those trying times will be depicted in an exhibit this summer. It all culminates in the fall, honoring the community's war veterans with a healing field.
Sidney's 1960s history will continue to live on, thanks to the Shelby County Historical Society.
