COLUMBUS, Ohio — The rivalry can be felt all across the Buckeye state, and even further.

Buckeye and Wolverine fans in Baghdad can't help but cheer for their team while abroad. A brigade currently serving a one-year tour is now divided by football.

Here in Ohio, soldiers and airmen within the National Guard step out of their fatigues, and into fan-wear! As they prep for the game in Ohio, their comrades prep abroad.

"We've got one company out of Ohio, one company out of Michigan. They're engineer companies. Their working in the same building on the same project," said Jeff Bolin with the 16th Engineer Brigade.

Sgt. Major Becky Herzog said in lot of ways football is similar to serving your country, "camaraderie is everything, teamwork is everything. Football is teamwork."

A picture sent to Ohio from Baghdad shows the Brigade split right down the middle between fans, each proudly displaying their flag.

"On one day of the year, we are going to separate and have our differences. On Sunday we are all coming back together," said Sgt. Major Herzog.

According to Bolin, the soldiers have satellite coverage and they plan to watch the big game!
