Stables Grille To Stay Open

CANTON, Ohio — A Northeast Ohio sports bar owner said he'll stay in business after trying to auction off his bar.

The "Stables Hall of Fame Grille" was renovated to become a restaurant from a historic barn built in the 1800s.

Owner Mike Potroos told ONN plenty of people love the place, but only visit once a year. Potroos was ready to sell and thought an auction would be a quick way to make a profit.

When auctioneers started, only one man was there to bid. The auction was called off with the bidder and the owner sitting down to negotiate. After all that, they couldn't agree on a price.

"No! I don't need it. I don't need it. I'm not a rich man. 200 is not worth nothing for me," said Potroos.

The owner wanted $825,000 for the "Stables" and the bidder offered just $200,000. The restaurant will stay open until someone else makes an offer.
