NORTH OLMSTED, Ohio — "Three years ago anybody that was using a recycled alcohol bottle as a serving dish was a lunatic." said Deby Cowdin, president of From The Blue Bag.

The Cowdin's home has literally been overtaken by bottles, boxes, and you can't forget the three kilns in the basement.

From The Blue Bag is a business that started on a dare.

"I didn't want to throw the bottles away, and she said 'You're an artist, do something with them.'" said Cowdin.

From The Blue Bag serves about 2,000-3,000 bottles a month.

Boxes in the garage are absolutely filled with bottles. Cowdin and her husband melt the bottles to form their creations.

"Why do you have to eat off a round plate? Why can't you eat off a bottle?" asked Cowdin.

Well, you can - as many people have learned. In a down economy From The Blue Bag continues to grow, at least doubling each year.

"It has gone from a farmers market to over 200 stores in 23 states." Cowdin explained.

Along the way, Cowdin got the idea to help other Ohioans by buying local Ohio products to fulfill her business needs and helping other aspiring artists.

She recently moved into a store front, helping revitalize a Cleveland neighborhood.

Now you have the chance to see her creations firsthand.

"We have cheese trays, business card holders. We have all kinds of gift sets and our best one is our wedding bottle.  It's a custom engraved champagne bottle and it's got the wedding invitation of the bride and groom." said Cowdin.
