CINCINNATI — For the first time in school history the University of Cincinnati Bearcat football team is ranked fifth in the BCS poll. It is the one poll that really matters when you're talking about a national championship.

"I'm pumped, and I see a BCS national championship coming our way," said fan Cody Streckfuss.

Critics wonder if UC really belongs in the same sentence with Florida or Texas when you're talking about a national title game.

The fans in Cincinnati believe the Bearcats definitely deserve a shot if they remain unbeaten.

"Can they beat Florida? I don't know. I would hope they can beat Florida, we've got a good offense but Florida and (Tim) Tebow will be tough to stop," said Erik Durham.

Whether the Bearcats raise a national trophy this season, fans say all this winning will definitely attract top recruits to the team.

All fans are watching to see if starting quarterback Tony Pike could play this Saturday against Louisville for the school's homecoming game. He injured his arm against South Florida, the same arm he broke last season.
