MASON, Ohio — Kings Island amusement park near Cincinnati has reached a confidential settlement with a woman who was injured on a roller coaster.

The deal was announced Monday shortly after a jury had awarded the woman $76,000 in compensatory damages.

Jurors in Warren County Common Pleas Court were getting ready to start a second phase of the trial to determine if Kings Island should be punished by having to pay more to Jennifer Wright as well as attorney fees.

Wright, of Defiance, was hurt in a July 2006 accident on the Son of Beast roller coaster. A jolt sent more than two dozen people to the hospital.

Wright, a single mother of four children, said she has a tear in the cartilage of the hip joint and a small fracture that will require several replacements during her lifetime.
