COLUMBUS, Ohio — In a segment recorded this week for ONN's Capitol Square program, Ohio Senator Sherrod Brown said he as already voted against Issue 3, which would put casinos in Ohio.

Below is a portion of the transcript of the show that airs Sunday, October 18.

Moderator Jim Heath:  You are busy in Washington, but all eyes are on Issue 3.  Do you think casinos are a good idea for Ohio?

Senator Sherrod Brown: I think you need to ask questions about casinos if you're going to bring casinos in.  How much is going to cost for additional police protection?  Additional fire protection?  How much are they going to pay in local taxes?  My concern also about Issue 3 is, do you want to write all of this into the constitution? So, if it doesn't work the way we want, you have to go back to a vote of the people instead of the legislature simply making some adjustments to make it work better.

Heath:  It sounds like you're voting no.

Brown:  I personally voted, I cast my absentee ballot, and personally voted against Issue 3.  I'm not publicly involved in it.  But I don't think it was particularly well done.  I think there are better ways to create jobs, and my focus has always been job creation.

Capitol Square can be seen Sundays at 10am, Noon & 7pm on ONN.
