Hamilton County received thousands of doses and a local EMS worker volunteered to become one of the first in the state to get the vaccine.
It just took a few seconds for the Blue Ash firefighter and paramedic to take the nasal spray vaccine which he said will protect himself and his family.
"It was kind of like taking in water in the swimming pool when you dive in and it goes up your nose. It wasn't that bad," said Kevin Murphy.
Assistant Fire Chief Chris Theders was trained last week at the Hamilton County Health Department to administer the vaccine.
Theders expects 90 percent of the firefighters in the department will get vaccinated.
"We are the first line out there in the street, if we get called for someone who has the flu or H1N1, we could get that and take home to families or co-workers," said Theders.
Health officials say they received more than 4,000 doses of the nasal spray vaccine on Friday and expect more vaccines every week.
"Since vaccine is limited, we really prioritize for health care and EMS workers because they provide direct patient care," said Megan Hummel of the Hamilton County Health Department.
Health officials are really not sure when the vaccines will be available to the general public, but they expect it will probably be in a couple of weeks.
