COLUMBUS, Ohio — In this program, the dialogue deals the real life. Boys and girls talking about how they feel and how they treat each other.

"It actually helps to build an understanding between the males and females," said student Brennan Waters.

That's one of the many goals of the Miracle Gro Program which gives children a place to talk when they are outside  of school.

"I think that confidence and self identity, those are powerful traits to gain in these early years, so by the time they are seniors in high school, they believe they can go to college and succeed and graduate from

college," said Tifani Kendrick, Miracle Gro Director.

The 45 students receive the academic and personal help they need to succeed from five staff members.

It is a second family for most and one that doesn't mind talking about the good and the bad that life deals them.

Angel Lacy has been with the program since it began in 2002.

"It's pretty comfortable like 98 percent of the time, the other two percent we are talking about stuff we need.

Although it is uncomfortable its still something that we need to know about," said Lacy.

Students are learning about life, and everything that comes along with it.
