Rescuers searched for nearly 24 hours with bloodhounds for Bernard Martin before finding his body in a wooded area near his home at about 12:45 p.m. Tuesday, ONN affiliate WKRC reported.
Martin disappeared from his home on Burdsall Road in Jackson Township. He was last seen at his residence by another relative on Saturday at approximately 2 p.m.
Someone said they thought they spotted Martin walking westbound on Blue Sky Park Road from
Burdsall Road at about 7 p.m. Sunday but family members said it was unusual for him to be out
walking. They also stressed he was of sound mind, WKRC reported,
Deputies brought in canines and helicopters on Monday to search for him while neighbors
combed the woods and cornfields on ATV's. His keys, wallet, and car were still at his home.
Deputies called hospitals, cab companies, and airports to see if he'd been spotted. The search was
called off Monday night but resumed Tuesday morning.
Investigators said Martin was found by a police dog in a heavily wooded area across a creek and on the other side of a road near his residence.
An autopsy was scheduled to determine his cause of death, WKRC reported.
