MARSHALLVILLE, Ohio — A 72-year-old Wayne County man has been charged with trying to rape a 5-year-old boy.

Police said the man also tried to have sexual contact with an 8-year-old boy.

They believe Lewis Snyder's line of victims stretches all the way from Seattle, Washington to the his home in Marshallville, Ohio.

"It's a good neighborhood. It's just, he's got a problem. Ya know, there's something wrong," said a neighbor, who did not want to be identified.

Snyder's neighbors said that they heard he was abusing young relatives.

They called him a quiet and kind of strange man.

Police are calling him a predator.

They said the 72-year-old retiree preyed on young boys and girls who couldn't defend themselves.

Police allege Snyder's pattern of abuse dates all the way back to when he was just 16 years old.

Wayne County authorities hope other potential victims will come forward.

Right now, Snyder sits in jail on $50,000 bond.

If convicted, he faces up to 20 years behind bars.
