The reason is the person hired to perform the show didn't get proper licenses and paperwork and had the display's confiscated.
Officials in Greenville have canceled their Sunday night show while in Ansonia, the display may be canceled.
"We understand that some communities may be inconvenienced this Fourth of July holiday, however safety must come first," said Interim Fire Marshal Donald Cooper.
Investigators confiscated 3,942 pounds of illegal fireworks from the unlicensed individual in Darke County.
Investigators from the Ohio Fire Marshal's office located about 120 cases of fireworks on Wednesday that were stored in a hazardous manner which is in violation if Ohio Fire Code according to Shane Cartmill, Public Information Officer with the Marshal's office.
"As always, the Division of State Fire Marshal is concerned about the health and safety of the citizens of Ohio." Cooper said.
The identity of the individual hasn't been released pending formal charges.
The retail value of the fireworks has not been determined. However, initial estimates indicate the value could reach into the tens of thousands of dollars according to Cartmill.
"These exhibition class fireworks and explosives are extremely dangerous and pose grave risks when they are not transported, stored or used properly according to state laws", Cooper said.
The investigation continues and authorities will release more information at a later date.
