COLUMBUS, Ohio — The supplies have been rolled out before in national emergencies like 9/11 and Katrina.

The Centers for Disease Control has a national stockpile of supplies and equipment -- like Tamiflu -- and they recently made a decision to distribute them.

The state received 430,000 doses of Tamiflu.

That's in addition to Ohio's current supply which includes more than 130,000 doses of Relenza, and more than one million doses of Tamiflu for both adults and children.

The Ohio National Guard showed ONN's Stephanie Mennecke pictures of the shipment, but kept the location secret.

"We have been commissioned by the governor to make sure that this stockpile remains safe and secure for all Ohioans," James Sims, Ohio National Guard.

If a decision is made to distribute the drugs across the state, the National Guard is ready to move.

"We, under the direction of the governor and the Department of Health, are taking this stockpile and breaking it down for regional distribution," said Sims.

If the department warrants distribution to the public, the medicine will be available to the public free of charge.

"People would go to a doctor, go to a clinic, go somewhere if they were ill and then they would be written a prescription and then at such point get the medication," said Atkins.
