COLUMBUS, Ohio — The last remaining winter weather advisories were set to expire Sunday as some portions of the state began digging out from under several inches of snow and ice that fell during this weekend's storm.

Northern Ohio was hardest hit, with some areas reporting more than 10 inches of snow.

In Youngstown, 11 inches of snow fell, while in Toledo there were reports of 8-10 inches of precipitation.

Heavy snow forced city officials in Toledo to declare a snow emergency because of snow that pounded the area. Parking restrictions were put in place throughout the city.

ONN meteorologist Erin Carroll said some snow showers could linger in the northeast part of the state on Sunday, with mostly cloudy skies expected across the state by the afternoon hours.

The storm began moving across the state late Friday, causing hazardous driving conditions.

In northwest Ohio, a school bus rain off a snow-covered road and struck trees near Bloomville in Seneca County. The driver, an aide and six students were treated for minor injuries. The driver was cited for failing to keep control of the bus.

Cities including Cleveland and Akron gave drivers plenty of notice that parking restrictions would be imposed Saturday to give plows a clear path.

For the most part, conditions in central and southern Ohio were much more manageable.

In Columbus, very little snowfall was reported. Most precipitation was limited to a wintry mix that included rain, freezing rain and sleet. Still, the storm did cause some problems throughout the weekend.

In southern Franklin County, along Interstate 71 near U.S. Route 62, several cars lost control and spun out Saturday morning.

Farther south on I-71 in Pickaway County, one lane of the freeway was closed Saturday morning when a tractor-trailer jackknifed. Authorities said one person was transported to a hospital but was expected to be OK.

At Port Columbus International Airport, a few early morning flights were canceled. Several other planes needed to be de-iced before they could depart.
