But it wasn't just for the luck of the Irish, but also for the love of the environment.
More than 60 businesses in Hamilton County so far have taken the county's Go Green Challenge.
Companies have do things as simple as recycling and changing light bulbs to help the environment.
They say these small steps could have a big impact if enough businesses go green.
Tetra Tech was one of the first companies in Cincinnati to accept the Go Green Challenge and pledge its allegiance to improving the environment.
"When I first emailed these guys telling them to turn their computers off, I got a lot of resistance," said David Snook of Tetra Tech. "When you start doing it over and over again it becomes a better habit."
Tetra Tech is an engineering and environmental consulting firm with some big name clients include the state of Ohio and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.
Workers analyze problems and find solutions involving energy, water and carbon issues.
"We need to walk the walk," said Tetra Tech's Doug McIlvain. "If we're going to sell these services to our clients we need to be doing it ourselves."
Hamilton County Environmental Services Department sponsored Monday's Go Green Challenge event.
"More than 60 businesses signed up for the Go Green Challenge, far exceeding organizer's expectations," said catherine Walsh of the Hamilton County Environmental Services department.
"We walk out of this room now these lights go off," said Snook. "Before they were on all day long."
Organizers say these simple little things could heal the earth.
