The plane went down shortly before 2 p.m. near state Route 42 and London Road, located just east of the airport, 10TV's Maureen Kocot reported.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol did not release the identity of the pilot, saying only that he was an adult male.

The plane plummeted into a field near the JEGS company headquarters, and about a mile away
from the airport, Kocot reported.
Witnesses said they saw the plane stall in midair before falling.
"They said the plane banked to the side and then suddenly went down into the field," Patrol
Sgt. D.J. Smith said.
The patrol said they believe the pilot was headed back to the airport when the plane crashed.
The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating the crash.
The plane was a 2007 model, two-seat aircraft that was often used for training purposes.
