Prosecutors said that Conone punched at least four children at Walmart, located at 2700 Bethel Road on the northwest side.
According to police, Conone took a key and struck it between his fingers, and then made a fist as he struck the children.
Officers said that they think there might be more victims who did not report the incident to police.
The mother of a 6-year-old boy confronted Cocone on Wednesday night after one of the incidents took place, police said.
Hummer commended her for taking action, Bell reported.
The mother, who was not identified, said her son was treated for a cut and bump to the back of his head.
Conone was described as being manic depressive and is on several medications by his public defender.
