Heroin Destined For Columbus Seized During Traffic Stop

DAYTON, Ohio — The Ohio State Highway Patrol on Tuesday announced two drug busts over the weekend that took more than $1 million in heroin off central Ohio streets.

During the traffic stops, the patrol seized a total of 3 kilos of the drug.

One of the busts was a shipment destined for Columbus, the patrol said.

The first bust happened Friday on Interstate 70 outside Dayton and another bust happened Saturday on Interstate 75 near Findlay.

An investigation revealed the heroin entered the U.S. from Mexico and was destined for Columbus.

The patrol said it had a street value of more than $1.2 million.

Through this past weekend the patrol seized more than 10,000 grams of heroin this year, compared to more than 6,000 grams last year.
