The child, a 1-year-old girl, was taken to Nationwide Children's Hospital shortly after noon with lacerations and bites to her head and face.

The girl was bitten inside her home, in the 4000 block of Lynward Road on the west side.

The injuries were non life-threatening, 10TV News reported.

Police and animal control responded and the family voluntarily surrendered the dog.
