COLUMBUS, Ohio —

Police departments across Ohio have a new weapon to use in the fight against domestic violence, 10TV's Tracy Townsend reported.

A web-based training tool was unveiled Friday, and the Columbus Division of Police will be among the first departments to use it.

The training tool was developed by the Columbus Coalition Against Family Violence, along with law enforcers and first responders.

"It's accessible in the cruiser, if an officer has a question at 3 o'clock in the morning, they can go to this program and get the answers," said Columbus Police Chief Walter Distelzweig.

The coalition's Response and Instructional Guide will be available to police departments statewide.

"Getting the police better trained, answering their questions in these very difficult issues will ultimately lead to a better prosecution rate and a better result for the victims all along the way," said Abigail Wexner, founder of the coalition.
