POWELL, Ohio — Deputies said that two men who were fleeing a supermarket struck a worker with their getaway car.

The incident occurred at Giant Eagle, located at 4000 West Powell Road shortly after 11:30 a.m., deputies said.

According to investigators, a worker noticed a man who left the store with a basket full of items that were not bagged and then entered a car that waited near the front entrance of the store.

"The employee attempted to stop the vehicle by jumping onto the hood of the car," said Delaware County Sheriff Walter Davis.  "The driver did not stop."

The worker, Adam B. Harrel, 28, was transported to Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus with non-life-threatening injuries, Davis said.

Investigators said that the men were riding in a brown, four-door Pontiac Bonneville with a silver stripe and Ohio license plates.

Both could face robbery charges.
