COLUMBUS, Ohio — A man who was imprisoned for more than 15 years is accused of attacking a woman inside her home on Saturday.

James D. Mitchell was charged with felonious assault, 10TV's Brittany Westbrook reported.

The alleged victim was hospitalized with a broken nose and severe bruising.

"(Mitchell) pushed me on the bed and he put his hands together and started choking me," said the woman, who requested anonymity.  "(He was) punching me repeatedly on the left side of my face."

Records showed that in 1990, Mitchell pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter for the beating death of a woman.

Mitchell was released in 2007.  The woman said that she and Mitchell were friends and was surprised by what happened on Saturday night but she helped police track Mitchell down 19 years ago.

"When he choked me, he said, 'You thought I was going to kill you 18 years ago,' the woman said.

The alleged victim is expected to fully recover from her injuries.   She said she will see plastic surgeons next week.

Mitchell was expected to face a judge on Friday, Westbrook reported.
