It occurred along South Hague Avenue on the city's west side.

According to police, several people went outside after seeing a man using a hammer to smash out the windows of his girlfriend's car, 10TV News reported.

That's when the man allegedly hit another man in the head with the hammer, police said.

He suffered a broken bone and cuts but was expected to be OK.

Investigators said Jesse Pence, 29, was charged with assault after the attack.
