COLUMBUS, Ohio — Police were searching an east side neighborhood on Monday morning after a woman was wounded in a shooting.

Officers were initially called at about 2:30 a.m. on a report of a home invasion in the 600 block of Champion Avenue, but when police arrived, the home was vacant, 10TV's Tino Ramos reported.

A short time later, a woman with gunshot wounds was found near the corner of Champion Avenue and Newton Street.

The woman, whose identity was not immediately released, was transported to Grant Medical Center.  She was expected to survive.

It was not immediately clear what led up to the shooting, although police said multiple shell casings were found near the scene and bullet holes were found in nearby homes, Ramos reported.

No arrests were made.
