FAIRBORN, Ohio — A Columbus man on Friday was accused of trying to meet a teenage girl for sex, and 10TV's Maureen Kocot reported, he has done it before.

Police said a 32-year old registered sex offender did not learn his lesson the first time and is now behind bars, accused of targeting who he thought was another teen.

The Franklin County Sheriff's Office said the man registered as living in a southeast Ohio house is a Tier 1 sex offender, but traveled to Green County to meet a 15-year-old girl he met on the Internet.

Except that girl was really a detective, posing as a teenager.

The man was convicted of sex crimes against a teen in Columbus in 1997.

When police searched the suspect's home to seize his computer, they said they found two children, ages 4 and 5, home alone.

10TV is not releasing the man's name because he hasn't yet been formally charged with a new crime.
