While the nation reaches its highest unemployment level in more than 25 years, there is hiring going on in Columbus.
"I have about 30 job openings right now that I'm trying to fill for long-term contract positions for professionals," said Manpower's Ken Lazar.
Those fields include engineering, financial, marketing and technicians.
Progressive Medical in Westerville has been adding pieces to its employee puzzle that make sense - information systems employees most recently and finding a niche overall in the this economy.
Consistent growth has been the key to this company's success, with 120 jobs filled this year with another 120 planned for next year, Hogan reported.
Local experts say - the unemployment numbers are scary - but not consistent with what's happening in Columbus, and you should not let it affect your search.
"Each individual job search is an individual job search, you can't look at that number," Lazar said.
