DELAWARE, Ohio — Charges were dismissed on Friday against a man whose wife used him in a cancer scam, 10TV News reported.

Prosecutors agreed to drop the charges against Phylip Chen if he passed a polygraph test.

The prosecutor said Chen did pass the test, and on Friday dropped the charges against him.

Chen and his wife were accused of collecting donations from friends and family members after telling them that Phylip was dying of cancer.

Chen's wife, Melanie Chen, was sentenced to eight years in prison for theft.

She was ordered to pay more than $790,000 in restitution, much of it to family and friends.
