Middle school students at The Wellington School listened intently as Upper Arlington police officers gave them a crash course in social-media safety.

These kids learned not only how to keep their private information private but they learned the dangers of "sexting" - in essence, sending explicit pictures electronically. 

"They wouldn't think, 'Man, sending a picture on a cell phone is just like that?  It's a felony?,'" said Upper Arlington police Officer Scott Metcalf.  "And a felony of the second degree - that's very serious.  Just one down from murder."

 "I thought it was interesting, because I didn't know of all the penalties with texting and sexting and things like that," said eighth grader Gabrielle Berry.

Those convicted of "sexting" could face prison time and be labeled as a sex offender.
