Michael Highman was charged with one count of distribution of pornography and one count of possessing pornography, 10TV's Kevin Landers reported.
Highman, 43, who teaches and is the boys' basketball coach at Weaver Middle School in Hilliard, was in federal court on Monday and was released but was being monitored electronically, Landers reported.
Hilliard schools said it was aware of the investigation and says there is no evidence that any district student is involved in the allegations against Highman.
Highman has been placed on paid administrative leave.
On Thursday, members of the FBI Columbus Cybercrimes Task Force searched Highman's Upper Arlington home and found hundreds of thousands of images and movies of prepubescent teenage boys engaged in sexual acts, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office.
He turned himself in to authorities on Monday.
Highman is now on house arrest until his trial.
