Ralph Needs, 80, said he was asleep in his bedroom when he said he was attacked by at least two men.
"They beat me real hard," Needs said. "(They) totally smashed everything, broke my nose (and) broke my sinuses."
Needs said that the robbers demanded $20,000 that he did not have, CrimeTracker 10's Angela An reported.
"One of (the robbers) says, 'Well, what are you going to do to him,' and the other says, 'I'm going to torture him. I'm going to burn him,'" Needs said.
Needs claimed he was tied up with his belt and was taken to his bathroom, where he was placed in his bathtub.
He said the robbers may have gotten the idea that he had cash because he had a new pickup and tractors outside his home.
"I kept telling them (that) there's no money," Needs said. "They took out this device to burn me with, and I told them, 'I have a pacemaker and if you use that, it'll kill me instantly.' They were determined anyhow, because they hit me right on it."
Needs was left alone and later managed to escape.
His computer, ATM card and pickup were stolen. The vehicle is a red Ford F-150 with white stripes and a chrome grill. The pickup has Ohio license plate No. PDV-9676.
