COLUMBUS, Ohio — A Columbus man's wedding ring has been returned after it accidentally slipped off his finger and into the basket at a Texas toll booth.

Rodger Moore can laugh about the incident now, but wife Sue still won't let go of his left hand, 10TV's Kurt Ludlow reported.

Rodger went to Texas to attend a niece's wedding, and driving back to the Dallas Love Field Airport to catch his flight home, Rodger pulled into an unmanned toll both.

"So I put the change in my hand and I start to throw it at the toll booth into the basket, and as I threw it, the ring flew off into the basket at the toll booth," Rodger told 10TV News.

Rodger then did what any husband would do: he called Sue in Columbus to explain.

She was, well, distressed.

At the next toll booth, Rodger found a worker and reported the missing ring, but Rodger did not have high hopes the band would ever be returned.

"I pretty much wrote it off," Rodger said.

He boarded the plane empty-handed, but when the flight arrived at Port Columbus, Rodger received welcome news.

"By the time I got into Columbus, (a toll booth worker) had left another message on my cell phone saying that they had found the ring," Rodger said.

A few days later the ring was back on Rodger's hand.

This was not the first time Rodger lost his wedding ring. It once slipped off his finger and fell in the snow, prompting an earlier search.

Rodger finally had the ring resized, and now it fits snugly on his finger.

"I was threatening to Superglue it on his hand," Sue said. She told 10TV News she fully expects Rodger to lose the ring again.

"I'm just waiting for the...third time's the charm they say," Sue said.
