Maintenance workers at the West Bay Apartments, located on Bay Run Drive, called police at about 9:45 p.m. Wednesday after seeing something suspicious in the pond, 10TV's Patrick Bell reported.
Divers and crime scene investigators found numerous body parts on the banks and in the water, Bell reported.

Robert A. Knight, 50, who lives in the apartment complex, was taken into custody and was charged in connection with Tracey F. Moore's death, according to police.
Orange cones and yellow flags were scattered across the apartment complex where human remains were found.
Remains were also found in Dumpsters nearby, in the woods behind the apartment complex and inside Knight's freezer, 10TV's Maureen Kocot reported.
Meagen Maynard, who lives next door to Knight, said that she was awakened Thursday morning by the sounds of detectives combing through her apartment complex. She said that did see or anything suspicious near Knight's apartment.
"He was nice," Maynard said. "He'd say hi or hello and our dogs would mingle with each other. You would not suspect anything like that from him."
Other neighbors said that they saw Knight working in his garage.
"Every time I've taken out the trash the last few days, (Knight was) in and out of his garage," said Michael Davis, a neighbor. "I've noticed he had an extension cord running from his apartment to his garage, working on appliances and washers and dryers, things like that."
Davis said that Knight seemed calm.
Investigators said that they expected to remain at the apartment complex for a few days because of the size of the crime scene.
Moore, 44, filed domestic violence charges against Knight in February but neighbors told 10TV News that the pair still lived together.
She later filed a report saying that Knight stole several items from her after the incident, 10TV's Cara Connelly reported.
Knight has a criminal history in Franklin County stretching back to 1980, when he was charged with aggravated robbery.
In 1991, he was charged with aggravated burglary, kidnapping and felonious assault. Prosecutors said that Knight threatened a couple with a gun, tried to rob them and then kidnapped them from their Columbus home. He pleaded guilty to the two kidnapping charges and was sentenced to prison before being released in 2005, Connelly reported.
