12-Year-Old Arsonist Escapes From 2nd Juvenile Facility

BETHESDA, Ohio — A 12-year-old boy convicted of arson in a south-side Columbus fire has escaped from a second juvenile facility.

Ryan Parsley pleaded guilty on June 15 to helping set a Barthman Avenue home on fire in January, 10TV News reported.

Parsley was placed on two years' probation, and Franklin County Children's Services, which received custody of Parsley, assigned the boy to the New Horizon Youth Center, a secure residential treatment facility in the village of Bethesda in Belmont County in eastern Ohio.

Parsley had previously escaped from a Franklinton treatment center in March. He turned himself in a few weeks later.

Authorities have issued an arrest warrant for Parsley, who is believed to be headed back to Columbus.
