The federal government is providing $200 million in stimulus money to help health professionals settle the costs of their education, 10TV's Kurt Ludlow reported.

The National Health Services Corps will provide up to $50,000 each in tax-free tuition-loan repayments to doctors, dentists and mental health professionals who agree to spend two years working in an area facing a shortage of medical professionals. The medical professionals will also receive a salary during their service.
The chance to reduce significantly her student-loan debt is appealing to Ohio State first-year dental student Ashley Torres.
"I kind of want to serve in an underprivileged community anyways, so I think it would be a good opportunity," Torres told 10TV News.
Torres still has a few years before having to make a decision, but facing a $10,000 bill for summer school that will be paid for with loans, the program already looks attractive.
