"She was asking for help, but the dispatcher couldn't get out of her what she needed help with, she just kept asking for help," said Sgt. Kevin Starrett with the Perry County Sheriff's Office.
A short time later Callis, 19, called 911 and reported a shooting, Landers reported.
"My mother was shot," Callis told the dispatcher.
"Just now?" the dispatcher asked.
"No," Callis said.
"She was shot? When was this?" the dispatcher said.
"I don't know, the gunshot woke me," Callis said.
When authorities arrived at the home they found Boring, 38, lying in the doorway suffering from a gunshot wound. Boring was transported to The Ohio State University Medical Center in Columbus in critical condition.
Investigators told 10TV News that Callis was taken into custody after he admitted shooting his mother after an argument.
"He's admitted to shooting his mother in the face this morning," Starrett said. "He didn't give us a reason why he did it, just that he had been in an argument with her over him being on the computer."
Callis was in custody at the Southeastern Ohio Regional Jail charged with felony assault, Landers reported.
