Senate Bill 58 was approved by a 30-3 vote and will now move on to the Ohio House, 10TV News reported.
The legislation would make it a crime for someone to collect blood, urine or other bodily fluids from another person without their consent. A violation would be fifth-degree misdemeanor, punishable by up to 12 months in prison and up to a $2,500 fine.

The bill was originally introduced last year after the arrest of Alan Patton, a man who has been accused repeatedly of trying to collect young boys' urine from public restrooms.
Patton was arrested last summer after he was caught turning off urinals inside a restroom at Sports Ohio in Dublin, police said.
He later pleaded no contest to a charge of criminal mischief stemming from the incident and was sentenced to 60 days in jail.
Patton is expected to begin serving his sentence on Friday.
