Leonard Braynen, 33, has been accused of sexually assaulting a Wittenberg University student during a trip to Wheeling, W.V. A sorority had chartered a bus to take students for a weekend trip to Oglebay Resorts.
Braynen had worked as a driver for Columbus-based Urban Express Transportation for four years before his termination, 10TV's Lindsey Seavert reported.
"(Braynen) was due back here Friday in the bus," said Urban Express sales director Ken Isenbarger, "They chose to get him a room and he stayed."
Isenbarger said that alone violated company policy.
"The policy is the drivers are supposed to stay away from the group, other than to transport them," he said.
It is alleged that during a party Braynen went inside a cabin where a student was sleeping and sexually assaulted her, Seavert reported.
Isenbarger said Urban Express was devastated by the allegations.
"This company has been in business for 14 years, a very solid company," Isenbarger said, "and now the alleged incident from the driver who has had great marks with the company."
The company showed 10TV documents that showed Braynen had passed drug tests, reference checks and a state background check, Seavert reported.
Braynen is scheduled to appear in court next week.
