The Columbus Open Shelter provides people with coats, hats and gloves when the weather turns cold, but this year the supply can't keep up with the demand, 10TV News reported.

Kent Beittel, the shelter's CEO, said his organization is overwhelmed with requests from people just trying to stay warm.

"We're seeing 60 people a day whose address is, 'I live under a bush, can you help me?' " Beittel said.

With overnight temperatures expected to drop below freezing for the entire week, Beittel said the shelter desperately needs clothing donations.

Donations can be dropped off at the shelter inside Saint John Evangelical Church, located at 61 E. Mound St. in downtown.
