Firefighters were called to the home, located in the 200 block of Monroe Avenue, at about midnight, 10TV's Tino Ramos reported.

Several people were inside the home, ranging from a 2-year-old to a grandmother, escaped after they heard smoke detectors, Ramos reported.

By the time firefighters arrived, they said smoke and flames were coming from the second floor.

Investigators said that they learned a 5-year-old set a mattress on fire. 

This was the third fire that was started by a child in the last month, Ramos reported.

The last two fires turned deadly, including one last week on Fifth Avenue.
