The attack happened on Parkwood Avenue.
The carrier, whose name was not released by the Postal Service, was bitten on his legs, arms and chest after the pit bull pushed open a storm window, 10TV News reported.

The dog’s owner, Monte Lige, faces eight charges, including failure to confine and license a vicious dog, 10TV News reported.
According to the Postal Service, Tuesday’s attack was 48th dog bite involving a mail carrier so far this year.
“It’s a mix of dogs; it’s not necessarily a pit bull attack,” said Steve Rennick, who is the lead safety specialist for the Postal Service. “It’s all different breeds, but the common thread is that they are unrestrained and they continue to bite our carriers.”
Rennick did not blame a specific breed for the attacks on mail carriers. Instead, he said owners carry the responsibility.
“Our dog bites are up this year and it’s all because of improperly restrained animals,” Rennick said. “We’re asking the public to please restrain these animals during our normal business hours."
