WESTERVILLE, Ohio — A woman who disappeared inside Sharon Woods Metro Park earlier this week was found alive on
Saturday.
The car belonging to Fadumo Abdi was found abandoned inside the park on Thursday, 10TV's Glenn
McEntyre reported.
Police and search crews spent most of Friday searching for Abdi, 45, until weather suspended
the search.
They resumed the search early Saturday morning. Dozens of family members, along with others
from the Somali community who did not know Adbi, turned out to help with the search.
Authorities said a group of searchers found Abdi inside the park at about 12:30 p.m.
Using translators and radios, they directed rangers and other rescuers to Abdi's location,
McEntyre reported.
Through a translator, one of the men who found Abdi explained what he saw.
"I felt that she was dead, but then when we went ahead and got to her we saw that she was
alive," Hussein Barre said.
Barre said Adbi was sitting under a tree, McEntyre reported.
"She was shaking," he said. "She was very shaky."
Zahra Mire, who identified herself as Abdi's cousin, said she and her family were up all night
worrying about the search.
"I didn't sleep since she was missing," Mire said. "We were crying all night."
Authorities said Abdi did not appear to be hurt, but was taken by ambulance to a hospital,
McEntyre reported.
Police said they did not know how or why Abdi ended up in the woods.
